It signed an agreement with Farnell-Thompson Applied Technologies for the delivery of semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) and ball mills as well as related parts. Financial details were not disclosed.

Ascot said it made the agreement at this time because of the long lead time needed for the equipment to arrive at the mine in British Columbia's Golden Triangle region.

The order includes a 22-foot-diameter by 8-foot effective grinding length (EGL) SAG mill and 14.5-foot-diameter by 19.5-foot EGL ball mill. Both will be driven by 2,000 kW, low-speed synchronous motors at 78% critical speed.

President and chief executive Derek White said the Ascot team had worked over the summer to complete the engineering work needed to allow placing the order.
